Three sculptural forms stand with quiet authority in the space, each stemming from a deeply personal experience—a surgery. Rooted in the act of repetition, they echo the cyclical nature of intervention, healing, and transformation. The space itself reinforces this dialogue, as viewers ascend and descend the stairs, mirroring the rhythmic motion embedded in the work. Each sculpture carries its own narrative and presence, yet together, they highlight the tension between materiality and absence, substance and fragility. The process of layering and extraction reveals a paradox: in removing, something new is constructed. But does repetition lead to reinforcement, or does it wear down the very foundation it builds upon? Does the act of making ensure function, or does it invite failure? Engaging with these questions, the work opens a space for uncertainty—where creation is both an assertion and a risk. The sculptures, like the body itself, exist in a state of flux, suspended between stability and vulnerability. In their stillness, they challenge the viewer to consider the limits of repetition, the fragility of structure, and the tension between intention and unpredictability.

Scattered Neccecity

After the surgery, the healing process began—a transition into a lifelong dependence on thyroid medication. This machine, constructed from found and used materials, embodies both resistance and inevitability. Designed to move erratically, it enacts an aggressive, almost rebellious gesture, forcefully scattering the pills onto the floor. As the audience steps on them, their essence dissolves, their substance erased, mirroring the gradual yet irreversible absorption of routine into daily existence. The machine becomes an object of defiance, stripping the pills of their authority, rejecting the imposed ritual of medical necessity. Unlike conventional machines, its purpose is not rooted in precision or refinement; instead, its function is its essence—an act of disorder, a confrontation with control, and a physical expression of the tension between dependency and agency. Through its chaotic motion, it challenges the idea of submission to permanence, raising questions about autonomy, resistance, and the fragility of imposed structures.
